This sweet little angel is my newest great-niece. I am not that old, I just married a man who comes from a large family & is one of the youngest in that large family. I became a great-aunt about 4 years after we got married, when I was 25. Little Miss Torrey is so sweet & precious. I really enjoyed spending a little time with her, her mom & big sister, I love her already!

H Family ~ {Refreshing}

This family was so fun. I've known Julie and Nathan for a few years now (mostly Julie) and they are such a sweet family. I had the privilege of photographing Caleb when he was only 2 weeks old. He looked like a miniature man then and still does 16 months later.

We got a few maternity shots as well since Julie is expecting their second little one in a few months. Thank you Nathan & Julie for allowing me this opportunity to capture your families special moments. It was great to see you again too.

Chicago ~ {Day 1}

Last week my husband, Kent and I went on an all-expense paid trip to Chicago. He won the trip through his work based on his attendance and performance for a four month period of time. Neither of us have been there before so we were quite excited. We decided the first day that Chicago was like being in a different country. It was so fascinating to see all the beautiful old buildings, all the taxi cabs honking their horns constantly, the very busy traffic, and to watch hundreds of people jogging, walking, running and riding bicycles by Lake Michigan and all over the city. People walk the streets at all hours of the day and night there. When do these people go to work or to sleep? They are always walking outside, even at 4am. It is a very busy place. I have not been to New York yet, but I would say that Chicago is probably pretty comparable.

This was our view from the bus we were riding in. Not bad, huh?

This was another thing that we don't see here at home. They have a train system like nothing I've ever seen. We never got to actually see the subway, but I did see the entrance to them (you'll see those pictures later). We have the beginning of a light rail here, but right now it's only a few miles in length.

Wednesday evening we went to the Cubs game. They played against the Cinncinati Reds. We had great seats, just to the left of home plate. The first 3/4 of the game was very boring and there was no action at all. Then the Cubs woke up and finally started really playing and got some runs. They were tied up until the end of the game when they finally got a homerun that won the game!

Baby Ryan {joy}

This is little Ryan, my cousin's new little guy. He has 3 older sisters and was a welcomed surprise. He's such a sweet little guy and was very cooperative during out session. Oh, how I love little newborns.

Here's sweet little ShelbyLynn again. You may remember her from her 1 year old photos and her 8 month photos. This time we captured little ShelbyLynn with her sweet little cousin, Skyli, who is only 6 weeks younger than her. These two girls were so sweet together, following each other all around the park. Shelby especially liked the splash pad. Skyli wasn't so sure at first, but after awhile she warmed up and finally started playing in the water.

This is my baby girl, Miss M on the left, and one of her best friends, Miss H on the right! These girls have been best friends since kindgergarten and they are starting 6th grade next week. They are so much alike that you would think they would drive each other crazy, but it couldn't be further from the truth. We took these pictures back at the end of May before it got to terribly hot, and I'm just now getting around to posting them.

Of course we had to do some silly shots too.

These shoot was so fun! This is a family that lives in our old neighborhood & have become friends of ours. The youngest girl, we'll call her Little E, is my youngest daughter's "Mini Me" & one of her best friends. They are practically inseparable. Everyone thinks they are sisters & some crazy people have even asked if they are twins {even though Little E is 8 & my Miss M is 11}. I just found some pictures of our family from about 4 years ago & my Miss M looks just like Little E does now. They say everyone has a twin out there somewhere & I think I believe it.

I had so much fun photographing this wedding. I've known Torri for almost 9 years, so I have seen her grow up quite a bit and I was so excited to be just a small part of her special day.

This little angel is my niece's new baby. He's so sweet!

I love the dry skin on his little feet. It reminds me of my last little baby, who was so dry when he came that I had to put a perscription ointment all over his body to moisturize his skin. It's some of those little things that make me miss this little newborn stage.

My 3rd daughter, Miss Artsy (right) had been begging me for about a week to go take pictures of her & my niece, Miss S, who is also one of her BFF's! Miss S turned 12 a few months ago & my Miss Artsy will be 12 in March (she's counting down the days). They hang out together all the time & when they aren't together they are on the phone with each other. It had rained almost all week, but we finally got some sunshine on Saturday morning, so we went out & started shooting! This is just a preview...there will be much more to come (hopefully soon)! Love you girls!

This is not the greatest picture, but I wanted to show you what I have for breakfast several times a week. This is my fruit smoothie. I add in milk, fresh strawberries, blueberries & bananas, orange juice concentrate, strawberry yogurt & ice. I thought the other day that a little pineapple juice would be good in it too, so next time I make one I'm going to try that! Yum!

Yesterday when I was taking pictures of the overcast day I noticed this little birds nest in the tree in my neighbor's backyard. So sweet! We've gotten so much rain over the last week, it's been so nice! I love the rain, even though it makes life a little more difficult. Our lands need it so desperately, so I welcome it gladly!

Can I just say I love the rain. This first photo is in the retention basin in our neighborhood. It collects all the run-off water from the whole neighborhood! This is probably about 2 ft. of water here! We don't get much rain here in our part of AZ, so we welcome it gladly when it comes!

I couldn't take just one photo! I love it when it's overcast! It's been a lazy, pj kind of day. That is until it's time to go to the chiropractor & then to teach a cooking class @ church tonight.

This is right outside the art building at school. I had a little time to examine it while I ate my lunch in between classes today. I've been going to school online for the last year & a half, but this semester I had to transfer to a different campus because there are no more classes that I can take online for my degree. It was fun, interesting & I'm excited for my new classes. Intro to Digital Graphic Art & Intro to Digital Photography! Both of my instructors seem really cool & I think I'm going to love both of these classes!

It was quite interesting to see all the different types of people going to school. I saw one guy (remember this is college) who was carrying a Transformers backpack. I thought for sure I would be the oldest in my classes, but one guy beat me by about 50 years. There's a man in my photography class that is probably close to 85 or 90! That is so awesome that he still has that desire to learn & grow! I met & talked to a girl who looked like she was just out of high school, but had served 3 years in the Navy & was injured (she's been out for 5 years already). And by the way, she looks very similar to my best friend's daughter who is serving in Iraq right now, that was a little weird, but cool at the same time.

This may seem like an odd photo. This is the new bedding my sister & her hubby gave us for Christmas! This is representing my favorite color~ blue! The fun thing is that she didn't even realize that this is the color that we accent our bedroom in, she just knew that it was my favorite color & one that my hubby could live with!

This fabric represents my love for sewing. I learned how to sew many years ago when I was a teenager (my mom would probably say I was younger than that, but I don't remember that far back). I know my mom tried to teach me to sew many times when I was young, & I took Home Ec in jr. high & some other crafty classes in high school, but I never really learned to love to sew until after I had my first daughter, Miss Ryne. Way back then I had a great neighbor, Sue Ellen, who also became my good friend. Sue Ellen taught me how to be really creative with sewing & taught me so many tricks to make things easier. Back then I used to make dresses for all of my girls every Easter & Christmas. I also made other clothes as well. It was so fun to get together with a friend & share this great talent!

Project 365~day 10 {Michael Buble`}

Project 365~day 9 {back to walking}

These may look like an old, dirty pair of tennis shoes to you, but to me they represent healing right now.

A few weeks before Christmas (on a Sunday afternoon) I may or may not have broken a bone in my right foot. I've had issues with my feet for many years, so I've been used to some pain in my feet, but this was bad. My little Mr. C was standing on one of the wooden bench at our kitchen table & it was pushed in too far so he was about to fall. Just as I got my arms around him he began to fall & the bench fell on my foot. It hit the largest bone that connects to my big toe, right at the knuckle. I put Mr. C down & fell to the ground in agony. It was so painful & I thought for sure it must be broken. It started to bruise immediately & looked pretty bad.

Well, me being the stubborn person that I am didn't want to go in to have it checked out. How could I drive, or ride my bike with a broken foot? So I thought I would wait it out a few days to see if it would feel any better. By Thursday the bruise had spread all the way across my foot & looked much worse I thought maybe I should go into Urgent Care, but then after praying about it I decided that I didn't want to.

I couldn't wear my tennis shoes for almost a month. The day before the kids went back to school (Tues. the 5th) I tried to put my tennis shoes on so I could go walking, it hurt pretty bad still. It wasn't time yet. Then a few days later my sister invited me to do another 2 mile fun run with her in a few weeks, so I decided I needed to get my foot back in shape. After trying to put them on on Tues. I decided to start stretching the muscles out so I had already been working on that little by little all week. So today I put my tennis shoes back on & started down the street. The first stretch down my street was pretty painful, so I thought I would just finish going up my street & back & be done. But, the stretch back up the street wasn't as bad, so I just kept going & about a mile later I decided that was good for now. I was so happy & excited! I'm back to walking again!!!!

Madison {beautiful} ~ AZ Newborn Photographer

Meet Madison...isn't she absolutely beautiful? She makes me want another baby...don't worry that won't be happening. It's not physically possible anymore! This is another reason I love doing newborn shoots, it gives me that opportunity to hold the tiny, precious newborns for just a little while.

Madison is part Native American & her mommy got her this beautiful Indian braclet, so I wanted to showcase it in one of the photos.

I think she looks so much like her uncle (who is only 8 years older than her) in this picture!

This is a birth announcement that I made for Madison. I left out her last name for security reasons, but it is on the original.

January 8th~ Project 365

This is my little Mr. C. He's 5 years old, almost 6! I have it on good authority that this little guy was sent to our family almost solely to keep us laughing! Don't get me wrong, he can have quite the attitude as well, but he is constantly doing things to make us laugh.

This day I asked him to smile for me & this is what he gave me! Of course, he immediately wants to see the picture on the camera & then starts laughing at himself. So not only does he crack us up, but he even laughs at himself. I love him so much!

Project 365~day 7 {Photography}

January 7th ~Project 365~ My Photography Notebook

Many of you probably already know that I am a crafter at heart! I love many different types of crafting & you will see many of these projects through my Project 365!

This first one is my photography notebook! I covered it with some cute Stampin' Up! paper! I usually like to add chipboard, ribbons or tabs to the book, but I knew I would be carrying this book around in my purse a lot, so I didn't want a lot of other stuff on it! This book is where I keep ideas, leads, schedules, pricing, resources, etc.

Project 365~day 6 {going green}

January 6th~Project 365~ My reusable bags!

About a year & a half ago I started purchasing one bag at a time from Walmart! Then I got all the white bags from volunteering with the AYSO. We got some Fresh & Easy bags for free from a family fun day we went to. I now have enough bags that I can do all of my grocery shopping without using any plastic. At the beginning I would always forget to bring the bags, but then a friend suggested to immediately hang them on the front door right after I empty them. Then the next time you're walking out to the car you'll remember to grab them. So that's what I did, & it usually works every time, as long as I remember to do this. Now I'm trying to get better at grabbing a bag or two when I go to other stores like Michaels, or a Health Food store. I've really been trying to be better about using them & it makes me feel good that I'm doing something good for our environment!

I LOVE this movie. Meryl Strep & Amy Adams are amazing actors in this film. I had rented this movie several times from Redbox, then my sweet daughter, Miss C bought it for me for Christmas! If you haven't seen this movie already, I highly would recommend it! It was really fun!

As if I don't have enough projects to work on...here is yet another one that I am going to undertake. I love photography & so this Project 365 only seems appropriate for my life. I would like to invite all of you to join me in this project & share how you see your world. Why do it?
Taking a photo a day is a big undertaking with big payoffs. Here are just a few reasons why you should consider doing it:
•Imagine being able to look back at any day of your year and recall what you did, who you met, what you learned… (Often we find it hard to remember what we did just yesterday or even last night, let alone a whole year ago!)
•Your year-long photo album will be an amazing way to document your travels and accomplishments, your haircuts and relationships. Time moves surprisingly fast.

•Taking a photo a day will make you a better photographer. Using your camera every day will help you learn its limits. You will get better at composing your shots, you’ll start to care about lighting, and you’ll become more creative with your photography when you’re forced to come up with something new every single day.

Tips on How to Do It - Here are six tips on how to create your own Project 365:

1. Bring Your Camera Everywhere
Yes, everywhere. Get in the habit. Grocery stores, restaurants, parties, work, and school. Going to a movie theatre? Snap a pic of the flick with your phone–there are photo-ops everywhere. If you have one of those tiny tiny cameras, you have no excuse not to have it in your pocket all the time. And if you don’t? Camera phones are a great substitute.

2. Make Posting Easy
You can install blog software like Movable Type or Wordpress on your own site and create an entry for each photo, but for true ease of use, try a photo sharing site. Flickr will let you post a week’s worth of photos in 2 minutes flat, and fotolog and Photoblog.com are geared toward a photo-a-day workflow. Making it fast and easy means you’re much more likely to do it.

3. Vary Your Themes
Try to capture the day’s events in a single photo. Perform photographic experiments. Take a photo of someone new you meet, something you ate for the first time, or something you just learned how to do. Take a photo of something that made you smile. And don’t forget to take a photo of yourself at least once a month so you can remember how you’ve changed, too.

4. Tell a Story
Use your blog entry, or your photo description, to explain what’s going on in each day’s photograph. How good did that dinner taste? What made you want to take a photo of that stranger? It’ll help you remember down the road, and it gives friends following along a better appreciation of why you took the photo you did. You don’t need to write a lot, just enough to add some color.

5. Don’t Stop, No Matter What
This is perhaps the most important tip of all. You will get tired of taking a photo every single day. Some days, you will consider giving up. Don’t. The end result is worth the effort. Remind yourself why you wanted to do it in first place.

There will be times you’ll think there’s nothing interesting left to take a photo of, and times you’ll think you didn’t do anything exciting enough to take a photo of. There’s always a great photo to be made.

Get out of the house and take a walk. Or stay inside and look around. Take a photo of something important to you. Take a photo of the inside of your house so you can see how your taste has changed over the years. Take a photo of anything, just don’t stop. It helps if you’ve told your friends about the project and asked them to follow along. Their encouragement will keep you going!

6. Post early, post often
Plan on going through and posting your photos at least once a week so you don’t get backlogged and feel overwhelmed. Ideally, post every day or two. Again, spend the time up front to make sure it’s quick and easy to post. It’ll make all the difference.

One Little Word 2010!

I wasn't sure which blog I wanted to post this on but I thought since the title of my site here is Moment's of Life this one would be more fitting!

The last 2 years I have participated in Ali Edward's One Little Word project. You chose a word that you want to focus on for the next year to help better your life. Lisa of Lisa Leonard Designs is also participating & joining with Ali in creating a necklace that she is selling to coincide with the word that Lisa has chosen for this project for 2010. I really would like to continue with the word that I've had for this year...which was Simplicity (because I think I need more of it)...but I think I need to choose a new word for the new year. I haven't chosen one yet, but I'm going to brainstorm a little, think about it over the next few days, & I'll let you know what I chose. In the meantime be thinking about your One Little Word & let me know what your word for 2010 will be!

I had a lot of fun shooting this family, particularly TJ & Tyson ~ who are 4 yr. old twins. They really kept me on my toes & this was the fastest shoot I've had! I couldn't believe how quickly we were done! I only wish I had half of their energy!

Isn't this family just gorgeous? I'm not biased or anything, but they are my family. The parents here are my in-laws on my husbands side of the family.

This is Dan & Annette. Annette is my husband's sister!

These are their 4 children (not in order of age): Ryan, Ashlee, Tyler & Dallin. They are all soccer players & Ryan has played football as well.

This is Ryan's beautiful family. His wife's name is Tasia, & their gorgeous little girl is Rigley! You can see Rigley's 6 month shoot here!

This is Tyler & his new bride (of 8 months) Kasey!

And their youngest, Dallin, who is a Junior in high school!

And last, but definitely not least, baby Rigley is the first grand baby! She is now 9 months old & has the most hair of any 9 month old I've ever seen!

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to shoot this great family at the joining of these two very nice people. It was so beautiful to see the love that these two shared just through the way they looked at each other. I've known Mike for several years now & have just recently met Sharanda.

Here is sweet little Marah once again! This was her blessing day a few weeks ago! Marah is the sweet little miracle that has blessed my dear friend's family recently.

Marah's big sisters & I tried everything we could to get sweet little Marah to smile, but she just didn't want to. She still so precious even without the smiles! Can't you just see the wheels turning inside her head? She's going to be another very smart one, just like her big brothers and sisters! She followed the camera everywhere, very inquisitive!
