Lake Powell & The Colorado River {AZ Landscape Photographer}

Photobucket
In April I had the opportunity to chaperone a field trip with my 6th grade daughter.  It was a quick trip {only 2 days}, but it was well worth it.  The sites were so spectacular and beautiful!  It was so amazing to see the work of the Lord in everything around us.

The first day we took a boat tour around Lake Powell.

 {Day 2}
This photo just below is the view at the Lake Powell Resort looking out at the Lake, at the break of dawn.

We had the opportunity to walk across Rainbow Bridge, which goes across the Glen Canyon Dam.  Here is a view of the dam, from right above it.

And this is the view from the other side of the bridge looking down on the Colorado River.

Then we got to down and raft down the Colorado River.  This was the most amazing experience.  The kids absolutely loved it, especially riding on the outside pontoons.  I really enjoyed being able to photograph the gorgeous water, rocks and mountains and to hear all of the history that goes along with them.

For those that may not know there is a fault line that runs through the river.  This is one side of it and...

This is where it continues on the other side of the river.  This is very fascinating to me.  I love how the rocks are lined up like pieces of bread.  Our tour guide told us that they were going to originally put the dam along this fault line, but decided not to because they thought it would be a nice site for tourists to be able to see.
